Billericay, England is an old established town with a population of some 35,000 people and is situated about 26 miles north-east of London, 6 miles east of Brentwood, 6 miles north of Basildon and 7 miles south of Chelmsford. Located on the highest ground in the area it was the natural vantage point for a settlement. Evidence of Stone and Bronze Age habitats has been found locally. The town lies on a direct line from London to the coast and being on high ground was a natural choice for fortification, Norsey Woods has pathways or rides of Roman construction. This ancient woodland once was the home of wild deer but now contains local fauna and flora. In 1387 over 500 men were massacred in Norsey Woods following the Peasant's Revolt. Perhaps the town is most famous as the place from which some of the Pilgrim Fathers started their journey to the new world. They left Plymouth in September 1620 and made the journey to America. The town grew as transport improved and had several coaching inns that today are public houses. There are several old "listed" buildings in Billericay and some fine churches serving all denominations. Many community "open spaces" exist - Mill Meadows, Lake Meadows Park and Hannakins Farm Leisure Centre. The town boasts innumerable organisations and associations cater for practically every interest.
Although there is a light industry estate near to the railway station the High Street is the centre of commerce. However the majority of the working population commute to London a journey of approximately 32 minutes. The schools in Billericay provide a high standard of education for all ages from infants to adults.

Billerica, United States of America
This town is twinned with Billericay.

Billerica, is named after Billericay, in the County of Essex, England, was the Shawshin wilderness in 1636 when first mentioned as a potential site for a new plantation. On November 2, 1637 the General Court granted Lieutenant Governor Dudley one thousand acres and Governor John Winthrop twelve hundred acres. The sale of the Dudley Farm in 1652 resulted in the settlement there of several families, chiefly from Woburn. The 'then inhabitants of Shawshin' were recognized as a town, and the name Billerica confirmed, in May 1655.
Most of the land was wilderness, but newcomers were accepted with care and granted homesteads. By 1658 there were twenty-five families, who had built a meeting house with Samuel Whiting as their first minister. It served for forty years. A marker is on the common where it stood. Industry took the form of saw and grist mills, scattered on brook sites throughout the town and there was a fulling mill to finish cloth still woven in individual homes. In the center of town, tanneries grew up along the brook south of the common about 1750. After the war, there came a period of prosperity and expansion. New and larger homes were built, including several around the Common.
A modest level of development continued until in the 1950's a substantial level of both industrial and residential development is recorded. Today the town has become a major regional employer and is home to several high technology companies such as Bay Networks Inc. The population today is approximately 38,000 residents.

Fishers, United States of America
This town is twinned with Billericay.

Fishers is situated about 25 miles from the city of Indianapolis in the state of Indiana was formally known as Fishers Station and originally as Fishers Switch came into being in June 1872 when Salathiel Fisher divided his land into town lots. In those days it was quite common for new communities to spring up along railroads and Fishers was no exception, hence the early reference to a train station or "switch".
The railroad quite naturally drew residents and businesses to the area the first of which was a gristmill and sawmill. Fishers is located in Delaware and Fall Creek Townships in Southeastern Hamilton County. Most of the early history of Hamilton County centres on Delaware Township which was acquired from the Indians when Indiana became a state in 1816. Hamilton County was initially divided into only two townships, White River in the north and Delaware in the south.
At the time of purchase William Conner was the only white man living in Delaware Township and operated a trading post which is now the modern day Connor Prairie Pioneer Museum.
Fishers population grew slowly to 388 in 1960 when the local and interstate highway network was expanded then it was only a matter of time before the town became a commercial and residential centre. Today it has a population of about 36,000 and boasts approximately 200 miles of roads, it is a rapidly growing suburb of Indianapolis providing good access to downtown Indianapolis and other parts of the region.

Basildon District, England
The Basildon District (Basildon, Billericay, and Wickford) is Twinned with Heiligenhaus, Germany and Ville de Meaux, France.

Situated in the southeast of Essex, is only 43 km east of London. It is a Town of 100 000 inhabitants. After the war there was strong demographic expansion, largely due to the decision of the British Government to build the New Town of Basildon in 1949. The district of Basildon is formed by this New Town and (ancient) villages of Billericay, Wickford, Pitsea and Laindon. Rich in numerous shops and in an important shopping center (the Eastgate Shopping Centre), but also of four weekly markets, Basildon has more than 6,000 car parking places in town centre.

We find a golf in five minutes of the centre, houses of the 18th century and several museums there. She is proud of her fantastic clock "Pussy Willow". The Church Mary Magdalene, Great Burstead has in the church books Christopher Martin's marriage certificate, inspirator of the journey in America of Mayflower in 1620. The symbol of the district, defined from the medal of the mayor, created in 1951, and was adopted by the District Council in December, 1992. In the centre, the mother and the child symbolize the growth of the new Town, with the four symbols of the areas of The District.

Ville de Meaux, France
This town is twinned with the Basildon District (Basildon, Billericay, and Wickford).

The City of Meaux is North-east of Paris, 45 minutes from Paris and 30 minutes from the Turnpike A4. Also 20 minutes from Roissy Charles of Gaulle Airport, 15 minutes to the Disneyland Paris Park and the R.E.R. station Chessy Marne la Vallee.
In the Middle Ages, the episcopal quarter of Meaux spread to the north of the Cathedral and along the battlements of the city. As its name indicates it, this quarter was reserved for the chapter of canons of the cathedral and for their associated clergy. The episcopal city, in its present form, follows largely the layout it had in the 18th century. However, the varied architectural elements, belonging to different historical periods, as seen by its structures. The oldest parts start from the second half of the 12th century (low halls of the episcopal palace). Until the French revolution of 1789, the episcopal city of Meaux preserved its religious function by excellence, ecclesiastical city being next to the secular city. After the revolution this function evolved gradually. Until the 19th century, the palace of bishops of Meaux was shared between the City and the Church. Finally, the law of 1905, made the separation of Churches and the State, passing this historical patrimony to hands of the State. Thus, since the 20th century, it has been a cultural function and patrimonial that the episcopal city of Meaux has been allocated. Function without different doubt of the past, but always intimately linked to the rich history of our city and its patrimony.
